Council's Members Help Strengthen Community's Governance
September 2, 2023
Many residents of Shanheyuan (a community in Suyu, a district in Suqian, a city in East China's Jiangsu Province) are grateful to members of Sister Mi's Council for their help in resolving disputes with their relatives and/or neighbors. The council is headed by Mi Xinlan, member of the executive committee of Shanheyuan Women's Federation. The council is composed of women Party (Communist Party of China) members and women volunteers (in the community). During the past few years, the council has played an important role in helping strengthen the community's governance.
The council regularly arranges for its members to discuss how to improve the community's management, and/or how to help residents solve difficulties in their lives. The council also encourages its members to offer suggestions on how to build Shanheyuan into a better place.
During the past few years, Mi has led the council's members in helping women and children (in the community) protect their legal rights and interests. The council has also organized volunteers to make regular visits to disadvantaged women and children, so the volunteers can see firsthand the women and children's needs, and the various difficulties they face.
